There is a need for a method to appropriately evaluate the change in stability of the implants and assist in predicting the prognosis of the implants, thus increasing the success rate of implants. In this study, the resonance frequency ananlysis(RFA) method was clinically applicated to patients treated with implants. The bone quality was evaluated and the stability of 54 implants were tested via OsstellTM. The results showed that the mandible showed significantly higher ISQ value than the maxilla. And class II and III type bone showed significantly higher ISQ value than class IV. The group that had a relatively low ISQ value(mean 66.0) at the time of implantation, showed increase in value at the second stage surgery testing, but the group with relatively high ISQ value(mean 77.1) displayed decrease. From these results, the RFA method can be considered a simple and predictable method in evaluating the primary stability of implants and can be an assisting factor in further treatment planning and prediction of prognosis.
